He's probably not human. My guess is that an alien civilization heard our music using their SETI program and sent him to communicate with us. Only catch is; the lag betweeen stars is such that even though he left in the Classical era, we are hundreds of years in the future now. Just wait until a couple hundred years from now when the 'Motley Crue" envoys start arriving.

I don't think it's that. It's definitely some intense mental breakdown, some from of psychosis I bet.
