View Full Version : School Lock-Down

Today my school had a lock-down. We were stuck in our classrooms for three hours and all because somebody wrote something on a bathroom wall. Whatever it was must have been serious, because there were cop-cars everywhere and we couldn't leave our rooms for any reason. At first they didn't even tell us the rreason why we were having the lock-down, so everyone was thoroughly confused. The buses were called early to take us home, and agonisingly, they let us out one classroom at a time, so that mine was one of the last because they "forgot" about us. Depending on what the staff decides, we might not have school tomorrow, though I doubt that will happen. We go to school no matter what the circumstances here. We are to watch tomorrow's news to hear more about it. I can't know for sure what the writing said, but someone told me it was something like "_____* High School is the next to go down." With the situation that recently happened in Red Lake, my school took no chances and issued the lock-down. I can say I'm a little afraid to go to school tomorrow.

Are you in South Carolina? There was an incident like that here. There was some sort of list of students' names.

That´s scary, Callie. *hugs* I hope things will go back to normal soon.
I once wrote "Nelson Mandela" on a wall at school. It actually caued a bit of a stir:)

That happened to our school on Sept 17, 2003 (I remember because it was my birthday). It was actually a gang fight that caused it. People were trying to throw people off balconies, another group was inside right outside our classroom door (someone got slammed up against it. That was scary, esp. because I sat right next to the door). They put the whole school in lockdown because there were reports of guns and knives. They had to search everyone's lockers. We finally got released after 4 hours. School returned to "normal". There were little fights all day after that. It was insane. 19 people were arrested that day.
Point: Lock-downs suck major ass, and I feel really badly for you. *hugs*

That does sound like it would have sucked. It really did for us too. Our whole day was screwed up just because of something written on a wall. I actually live in Minnesota, which is why the Red Lake incident I mentioned previously is so vital to the decisions my school made yesterday. Red Lake is in MN and the United States second worst school-shooting just happened there a month or so ago. 10 people were shot by the end of it. Of course we have to go to school today. It's not like our school shuts down for anything. Not for snow... Not for death threats... Whatever that person wrote, it wasn't personal, but it was against the whole school. I'm feeling just a little bit scared to go today, and I'm sure that comes as very upsetting to the school system. Isn't one of their biggest policies to have a safe school so their students don't have to feel scared? There's going to be cops everywhere today. I wonder if they'll check our backpacks when we come in...

We have had lock downs at our school too, but nothing like that. Just because someone uttered a death threat to his ex.

Well, as I assumed, we had to go back to school today. I heard lots of rumours as to what the writing on the wall said. Some stories involved racially derogatory comments, and references to a certain organisation whose name I will not utter here, but the basic consensus is somewhere along the lines of "______ will be the next Red Lake" and "______ will die" (The spaces representing the name of my school). I also heard "The bloodiest day at ______ will be 5-5-05" as well as many others. It is not possible to know for sure where it was written either. Most think it's the boy's bathroom, but some are convinced it happened in the girls' locker room. Whatever the case, I wish I knew more about it. It doesn't strike me as fair to be left in the dark like this. Coincidentally, another local school underwent a bomb-threat today and a lock-down was issued. No one feels safe going to school anymore.

That really sucks. And since you seem to know about the Red Lake incident, can you give me a brief 411? I live in Florida, Terry Shiavo was all over the news, I heard nothing about anything else. All I heard about it is (and this is a quote): In other news, the deadliest school shooting sinc Columbine happened in ------[ didn't hear, now I know where] today."

Yeah, I thought it was weird that no one seems to really know much about the Red Lake incident. I've had to tell a lot of people about it. So you mean another school shooting happened? They said the one in Red Lake was the second deadliest, I guess now it's the third. Honestly, how many more times is this going to happen? Kids are sick. Anyway, in Red Lake, MN, a kid named Jeff Weise shot his grandfather, grandfather's girlfriend, a school guard, a teacher, 4 other students, and ultimately himself in what was to be known as the second-deadliest school shooting in the United States, but now must be the third. That's the brief, anyway.

*winces* you lot are unlucky. the closes thing to what I'm guessing you lot call a lock down, is when we had 4 fire alarms go off in 2 weeks, starting on the first day of term. 2 of 'em were real fires and none were drills. but I'm glad I live in safe little back water Scotl'nd th'n owr there wi' you guys.

Wow... That horribly sucks...Nothing like that ever happens around here, so I really cannot relate. But I hope that this won't be a problem for you.

It's just really unfortunate the way people are acting nowadays. Some kids were saying the school with the bomb scare was just trying to top us. And you know what? Whoever threatened them with a bombing was probably doing just that. That's how depressed society is. That's how much today's unhappy youths would like to bring everybody else down with them.

It is a shame that the actions of a few get so much attention and then brand a generation.

Yeah, that would be scary. I remember when I was in high school and my school was in the news a lot that there was a rumor going around that someone had a threat against us...I cannot imagine what it would be to have a lock down. I heard about Red Lake though...I can understand the school officials concert...what is this though about it now being the third? I had not heard of any other school shooting...
