It was a year ago today . .

. . . that an intelligent, curious and articulate woman, seeking others who loved Tolkien as much as she, stumbled upon The Land of Rohan. She wandered amongst the forums, stretched out before her, looking at threads waving in the breezes, reading posts with increasing delight. Here, she realized, were those of like mind. They liked the movies (mostly), but they loved the books. And not just LotR, but The Hobbit , The Silmarillion. Unfinished Tales. They delighted in Tolkien trivia, they tossed quotes from the books and movies around.

But they enjoyed more than Tolkien. They loved :cc and playing games, and fluffing. Shyly, she introduced herself but quickly became bolder, joining the hobbit games, mining with the Dwarves, hunting with Men, and, upon climbing the trees, learning and sharing with the Elves.

Today, she looks back upon a year that has mostly been great fun, filled with meeting new friends, exchanging ideas, drinking root beer and eating :cc

Come, join her in this celebration of this one year anniversary. Yes, that's right, kaz has been here one whole year!!

And in a side note, did you know that pyschiatrists have designated January 24 as the most depressing day of the year? :lol What do they know? Clearly, this is a day of joy and happiness! :orange

Earlier this week it was 3 years since I joined a small Tolkien board. One of the mods was called Theodred, but we never saw the slightest hint of his existence. There were two people from Norfolk, a drunken sod and a very pretty girl. My first post there was in an extremely rando mthread about who´d win in a fight between LotR and WoT characters...

And no, it wasnt´Rohan :p

Well, I am an Orlando Bloom fan, though NOT a fangirl. So yes, I did hear about it several months ago. It's directed by Ridley Scott (of Alien fame) and also stars Liam Neesom and Jeremy Irons. Hans Zimmer was originally supposed to do the music.
