For those members here who also post at SoV, don't look at this as a blatent rip-off. More so, think of it as an attempt to emulate the wonderful ideas of a wonderful board. ;)
Hear ye, Hear ye, All Members of the Land of Rohan,
The Land of Rohan Message Board has now been in existence for three and a half years. 2004 in particular was probably the most interesting and eventful in our history. It saw the return of old members and the arrival of many new members that have helped to make this place as exciting as ever.
Each member of this board makes their own unique contributions to the board experience as a whole. There's no better way for showing what each member means for the board than to give them titles and awards for these contributions. Thus, arrive the 2004 Land of Rohan Board Awards. There are very many categories of awards that certain board members and groups can win:
1. Biggest Tolkien Fan
2. Least Tolkien Fan
3. Favorite Member (male)
4. Favorite Member (female)
5. Biggest Fluffer
6. Biggest Trouble-Maker
7. Most Evil Member
8. Most Sensible
9. Nicest Person
10. Funniest
11. Best Moderator
12. Best Administrator
13. Most Positive Outlook
14. Most Negative Outlook
15. Fastest Poster
16. Spends Most Time Online
17. Silliest Member
18. Most Insane Member
19. Best Contributer
20. Most Knowledgeable
21. Most Creative
22. Away Member Missed Most
23. Best Writer
24. Best RPGer
25. Best at Trvia Games
26. Best Artist
27. Best Musician
28. Best Newcomer (joined in last 6 months)
29. Favorite Picture (male)
30. Favorite Picture (female)
31. Best Thread
32. Best Title
33. Best Sig
34. Best Quote
35. Best Avatar
36. Best Cult Group
+ Favorite Character in LotR
+ Favorite Character in the Sil
With 36 categories plus the two survey questions, everyone here has a great chance to pick up some prize. The winners will receive their own Gamling award (because it looks like Gamling ;)) and a specially made cheesecake!
Now, here's how the awards work. The first round will be the nominations round. Since I am running the awards, everyone will send me a Private Message nominating two board members who you think best fit the category. This round will continue until I have either:
A) A sufficient number of nomination ballots (preferrably 20)
B) Everyone who plans to send in a ballot has sent one in
Afterward, I will tally up the number of nomination in each category, and those with the most nominations will be put on the final ballot. In the actual voting round, we will either have:
A) Another Private Message ballot where members could send in their final votes
B) Open polls for the nominees in each category
Then, when the final voting has been completed, the votes will be tallied and the winners will be proclaimed!
Additional Rules:
-You may not nominate yourself more than five times. :p
-You may not nominate others more than ten times. ;)
-You must submit a full ballot, don't just nominate for certain categories. ;)
