I guess that it is only fitting that the city where pork barrel spending is more fashionable than owning an I-pod, baseball should seek to demand a new stadium payed for completely by the taxpayers over the needs of schools, public housing and other "less worthy" causes. It looks like the Washington Nationals are as extinct as a balanced budget in Washington D.C.

Well, I heard that there's still hope for baseball in Washington yet. Feeling disgruntled about the Randy Johnson trade falling through, PDA? :lol

It fell through? Good. Randy Johnson's too good for the Yankees

Prince Dol Amroth
December 24th, 2004, 03:27 PM
First, NO ONE is too good for the Yankees!!!!!

Second, I can take or leave Randy Johnson. We got Carl Pavano, and there is still some talk about the Johnson deal being re-started.

Of course there is...;)

Carl Pavano

Who in all Middle Earth is that? Are you people expecting him to win the Yankees the World Series or something? :P

Oh, and I have one thing to say.....

Go Tribe! :biggrin

Carl Pavano is a pretty decent pitcher. He's actually the dude we traded to get Pedro way back in '98. :p

Prince Dol Amroth
December 26th, 2004, 11:17 PM
it will take more than one good pitcher to get the Yankees back to the Series, but you build it one player at a time. Pavano is a steady, good pitcher, so I am glad we got him.

And if the Yankees do make it back to the series, I hope the NL team kicks their butts. :P :lol

Lothíriel

I second that motion.

Prince Dol Amroth
December 28th, 2004, 01:54 AM
Well, they say that it is good for folks to have a dream, so I am glad y'all have one. :biggrin

:lol

My dream is for Cleveland to win it all, but I know that will never happen. :crying

Never is a long word, but perfectly applicable when used with the noun Yankees. ;)

Lothíriel
December 28th, 2004, 09:25 PM
Hee hee...that's very good Bere

Prince Dol Amroth
December 29th, 2004, 02:47 AM
Funny, though Arathorn's post was, it is not quite accurate. The word that best fits with the Yankees in ths context would be twenty-six, as in approximately 1/4 of all world Series.

World Series hogs! :P

Prince Dol Amroth
December 29th, 2004, 02:03 PM
Sorry, it is just so hard to stay away from the Series,it is like a good chunk of cheese, you just have to have more.

I think the bronx bums have hogged the cheese tray long enough! :lol

Prince Dol Amroth
December 30th, 2004, 01:08 AM
It isn't so much hogging the cheese tray as being very good at finding it, year after year.

They're pigs I tell you, pigs! :P

Prince Dol Amroth
December 30th, 2004, 03:39 PM
PIGS? Come on RW, I can't believe you missed a perfectly good animal comparison that fits the whole "cheese motif"... :lol

RW7427
December 30th, 2004, 10:25 PM
They're certainly not cows. :P

Prince Dol Amroth

RW7427
January 1st, 2005, 02:54 PM
Well, I love cheese. :heart

Is there any kind of animal that I've stated here that I don't like? If there is, I don't remember what it was. :o

Prince Dol Amroth

I am glad we have Johnson, but I wouldn't have been upset if we didn't get him. All I wanted was some good pitching. What makes me the most happy,is that they brought a "real" Yankee home-Tino Martinez!!

RW7427
January 4th, 2005, 11:52 AM
I saw Johnson was traded, but not to whom.

THE YANKEES???

:sick2

Just another case of Steinbrenner buying talent. No wonder they win so much. :rolleyes

Prince Dol Amroth
January 5th, 2005, 01:31 AM
The deal is not official yet, but it is a done deal 99.9%.

RW, isn't that what an owner is supposed to do?

RW7427
January 5th, 2005, 10:43 AM
But he's the Donald Trump of baseball. The man has so much money, he can buy just about whoever he wants, and sometimes that's not fair for the other teams in the American League.

Prince Dol Amroth
January 5th, 2005, 02:01 PM
Well, It might be a bit unfair, but it seems, Boston and Anaheim are also spending big money, they got hit with the luxury tax like the Yankees. I also didn't know that 'fair" was all that applicable in the business world...lol
